Yemen

Oil is in production from deeply buried granitic/gneissic basement in the Hadramaut area of the Yemen. These basement reservoirs underlie a thick sequence of Mesozoic to Tertiary rocks that contain stacked conventional reservoirs. Several operators are currently developing the basement reservoirs, although little has been published on them. GeoScience has carried out several studies of the fractured basement recently for these operators.
