Examples of recent FRC projects
Yemen basements:
we have worked for OMV of
Austria in Yemen Block S2 and currently for another operator further east. OMV
were 'very pleased' with the studies and have recently drilled a successful
basement well in the Block (see PESGB Newsletter December 2005).
Pakistani carbonates:
we carried out a project to
predict fracture characteristics and distributions in the sub-surface for a
prospect being investigated by Premier-Kufpec Pakistan. The results were used by
PKP to reduce uncertainties in the determination of economic viability.

taken during outcrop fracture mapping work.
Algerian quartzites and sandstones:
we continue to be heavily involved in Algeria, working on
fractured reservoirs of various age and type: Cambro-Ordovician quartzites (Hamra
or close equivalent), Ordovician glaciogenic sediments, Devonian / Carboniferous
sandstones. You can read about a fracture study in the Cambro-Orovician at
Rhourde El Baguel by visiting our
downloads page.
At BP’s Tiguentourine field (In Amenas) we carried out
interpretations of GVR (RAB) image logs from two deviated and
horizontal sidetracks also prepared GeoTV fly-through visualisations
(see Latest News item) showing borehole geometry and fracture
intersections.
Carbonate reservoirs in the UK:
During 2005 we prepared a fracture model for the Great Oolite reservoir at
Star Energy’s Humbly Grove oilfield in Hampshire, onshore UK. We
also carried out wellbore stability studies and geomechanical model
development. The project has recently started pumping for gas
storage.
Borehole Imagery Studies:
we have
now done a large number of studies using FMI, FMS, UBI, GVR, CBIL,
STAR, EI logs in a range of formations.
