Fractured
Reservoir Models
Investing in models
that deliver results
The successful development of a fractured
reservoir requires construction of a static geological model which
predicts the distribution of fracture porosity and permeability.
Depending on reservoir engineering requirements, models can be
developed at a range of scales and levels of detail, for example to
describe the permeability tensors in faults and their damage zones
or, at the larger scale, to represent variations in fracture
permeability within a fold closure containing brittle fractures.
Model development is a multidisciplinary, iterative process which
involves matching the static model to the dynamic behaviour of the
reservoir.

We provide a range of services to help build static and dynamic models of fractured reservoirs:
|
 |
Well Fracture
Studies : to establish the controls on fracture
distributions and develop predictive methodologies
Reservoir Analogue
Studies: using outcrtop, satellite
imagery and published material to overcome well data
limitations
Interwell Fracture
Prediction: for example curvature
analysis, to predict relative variations in fracture density on
folded surfaces
Integration of well, reservoir and analogue
data : to build static fracture models
Integration of dynamic data from well and
reservoir scale : to calibrate static fracture
models

Models are required for a range of
applications in the field life-cycle. Our project geologists are
familiar with the engineering and reservoir management requirements,
and offer appropriate skills and techniques to suit your
objectives.
At discovery / new venture stage: evaluation of
the role of fractures, preliminary fracture models for appraisal
wells and volumetrics
At development stage: fracture models for infill
drilling, updating volumetrics, history matching, breakthrough
prediction
At secondary recovery stage: fracture models for
history matching, injection planning, prediction of sweep
efficiency
