Image Log Interpretation

Interpretation of micro-resistivity and ultrasonic borehole image logs is a cornerstone of our services. Using ImageLog software we interpret for fractures, in-situ stress indicators and lithofacies,  producing results which underpin fracture models or support operational activities such as selection of perforation or testing intervals. Other well data can be loaded alongside the image for identification of fracture porosity and fracture flow properties.

Natural fracture attributes
  • True orientation
  • Open or closed
  • Spacing, intersections, clustering
  • Lithological or structural controls

Induced fractures (geomechanics indicators)
  • Breakout orientations and widths
  • Axial tension fracture orientations
  • Enhanced natural fractures
  • Borehole shape

Sedimentology
  • Image facies
  • Dipmeter analysis for structural tilt
  • Bedform types and geometries

Visualisation of image log data and interpretations

Our GeoTV software converts image log data to a visualisation of borehole shape and fracture or bedding intersections along the well. You can ‘fly-through’ the centre of the well to examine breakout or key-seating, or view fracture intersections and clustering externally.  This supports both interpretation and communication of results. Other well logs can be loaded alongside for integration.
