Oilfield Geomechanics

Oilfield geomechanics is the specialist discipline that quantifies the mechanical behaviour of rocks.

It is the interaction between rock strength, deformability, In Situ stress, formation pressure, fluids in place, wellbore geometry and reservoir production history.  It links drilling, completion and production operations directly to geological conditions; for example, by setting limits to swab and surge pressures, or drawdown limits during production.

Our geomechanics services are operationally focussed, based on geomechanical models constructed from all pertinent data and calibrated using observations from adjacent offset wells.

They are individually tailored to your requirements and are designed to:

  • Lower drilling and operating costs by reducing Non Productive Time (NPT)
  • Reduce risk and uncertainty
  • Increase productivity
  • Optimise field development strategies
  • Aid well plannning
  • Improve safety
