Lucie Ayotte

Technical Specialist

Lucie was awarded a BSc in Geology from Université de Montréal in 1993 and an MSc in Earth Sciences from Université Laval (Québec City) in 1996. She worked as an exploration and mine project geologist in West Africa, before joining GeoScience in 2001. When she's not at work she can usually be found swimming, cycling or running. Lucie lives in Brisbane, Australia.


August 2001 to Present – GeoScience Limited, Senior Technical Specialist.

  • Technical Assistant – Technical Specialist. Geomechanical interpretation and modelling of wellbore conditions with the aim of providing wellbore stability recommendations for oil and gas fields located in in the UKCS and worldwide (with a focus on Q9 and Q30 of the UKCS).  This involves the processing and interpretation of drilling reports, PWD, LWD, wireline and image logs. Particular interest in the provision of real time geomechanical support to operations and methodical analysis of drilling operations


July 2001 – Western Power Distribution (Bodmin, Cornwall), Data Processing.

  • Duties included digitizing of electrical distribution diagrams, linking physical addresses to distribution cables


September 2000 to July 2001 – Cornwall Healthcare Trust, Recruitment Assistant.

  • Duties included general public enquiries, sending out application details, preparing shortlisting and interview packs, and the preparation of the CHT vacancy advertisements


1997 to 2000 – Société d'Exploitation des Mines d'Or de Sadiola, (Mali, West Africa) Project Geologist.

  • Duties included resource and geotechnical drilling, pit dewatering, groundwater monitoring, geotechnical mapping, field supervision of various projects and training teams of local workers


1966 to 1997 – International Tournigan Corporation (Vancouver, BC, Canada), Project Geologist. 

  • North-Western Canada and in Mali (West-Africa). Duties included the delineation of drilling targets, core logging, field supervision of reverse circulation drilling programme, chip logging, sample preparation and expedition



1996 – Ministry of Natural Resources (Québec), Senior Geologist.

  • Duties included compilation of legacy geological works from the Eastern Quebec field offices. Input and digitizing of data into the government database


1995 – Groupe de Recherche en Géologie de l'ingénieur Université LAVAL, Research Assistant.

  • Duties included RC drilling and sampling of an acid generating mining waste dump, installation and monitoring of piezometers and lysimeters, chemical and XRF analysis of soil and water samples, compilation of results

Summers 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994 – Ministry of Natural Resources (Québec) and COMINCO LTD, Field Assistant.

  • Duties included geological and structural mapping, compilation and digitizing of collected data, sample collecting and preparation
