Peter is a founding member of the company, which he joined following six years at the Camborne School of Mines Hot Dry Rock geothermal research project. He holds a degree in Mining Engineering and has 40 years’ experience in geothermal engineering, well testing, reservoir engineering, experiment design and project management. He has worked for the European Commission as an expert evaluator of geothermal project applications since 2007. He was Project Manager of the United Downs Deep Geothermal Power project from its inception until May 2020. Away from the office Peter enjoys travel and sport, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and music. He is recently retired as the drummer in a Beatles tribute band.


February 2022 to Present – Geothermal Specialist, GeoScience Limited. 

2014 to January 2022 – Managing Director, GeoScience Limited.

2017 to May 2020 - Project Manager of the United Downs Deep Geothermal Power project.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the Cornwall-based technical and engineering operations, public relations, community outreach and education programmes. The project successfully drilled two deep geothermal wells during 2018 and 2019 and aims to develop the first commercial geothermal power plant in the UK.

1986 to present – GeoScience Limited.

  • Reserves assessment, well testing, reservoir management at operating geothermal fields in the Geysers and Imperial Valley, CA

  • Hydrogeological Testing Specialist attached to the Gibb Deep Geology Group, designing and supervising well testing on 23 deep boreholes drilled for the UK Nirex site investigations at Sellafield and Dounreay, including Quality Assurance, reporting and management of the testing teams

  • Manager of GeoScience’s interpretation contract with UK Nirex, member of the Hydrogeology Overview Group

  • Science Design Manager for the GIGA Joint Venture, formed to design and execute scientific measurements in the shafts for the proposed UK Nirex Rock Characterisation Facility at Sellafield

  • Technical Coordinator for the European Commission, overseeing the scientific monitoring, review of contracts in the geothermal sector

  • Expert evaluator for the European Commission assessing applications for funding in the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework and H2020 programmes

  • Feasibility studies, development advice, due diligence, project evaluations, EGS review, education and training in various geothermal developments worldwide

  • Operations Director since 1999, Managing Director since 2014, currently Geothermal Specialist.


1980 to 1986 – UK / EEC Hot Dry Rock geothermal research project.

  • Junior Scientist then Junior Reservoir Engineer in the Science Group

  • Hydraulic testing, mechanical rock properties, in-situ stress measurements

  • Wellbore stimulation, gas lift testing, operation of the circulating system
