Energy and Our World

November 25, 2016

Energy and Our World.  This week there was a great programme on TV about The Last Miners, looking at the closing months of Kellingley Colliery in Yorkshire. The commitment, skill and camaraderie of the miners shone through the programme and brought home that our world is built on energy supply in all its various forms, even if some are less climate-friendly than others.

And that supply depends on a huge range of skilled individuals in the world of mining, drilling, engineering and technology.  So why is it that the Energy sector, in some parts of the media is continually lambasted for causing environmental problems or for ripping off the consumer ?  It’s about time there was some better degree of balance in the discussion, maybe the lights really have to

go out for sense to prevail and for energy to become less of a political and social football. Let’s try living without energy for a month !
