Starting in 2009, we undertook the reconnaissance work that selected the United Downs site, developed the geological prognosis for the deep wells and provided technical support for the initial project design and Planning application.

As a Delivery Partner we undertook the well designs, designed the subsurface testing programmes and wrote the technical specifications for all the key contracts required to implement the project. We provided the full time geology support, logging and analysing cutting samples from 7600m of drilling, and interpreting wireline geophysical logs to construct an integrated geological model and designed the subsurface logging and initial testing programmes.

We designed and planned the community outreach and education programmes and developed new printed and digital resources, a project website, social media feeds and animated films for a variety of audiences. Our staff represented three-quarters of the delivery team for these programmes, attending numerous public events, hosting visits and giving presentations to both technical and non-technical groups.

We were the Project Manager from 2017 until May 2020, when our involvement with the project was successfully completed.
