The company has its roots in the UK’s Hot Dry Rock geothermal research project, undertaken in Cornwall in the 1980s, and was initially owned by a US-based geothermal developer. In 1992 the company was bought by Tony Batchelor, the current Chairman.
During the 1990s we provided extensive services to the UK Nirex site investigation programmes at Sellafield and Dounreay, designing and supervising the drilling and testing programmes for 23 deep boreholes and the science programme for the planned Rock Characterisation Facility shafts.
Since the late 1990s we have been predominantly an oil & gas service company providing operationally focused geomechanics services and reservoir geology characterisation studies for new and mature fields worldwide. We have undertaken hundreds of studies, using data from thousands of wells and saved millions of dollars for our clients.
We have also maintained our interest in geothermal energy and continue to provide services to conventional and Engineered Geothermal System (EGS) developments. We also pioneered the utilisation of shallow Ground Source Heat Pump systems in the UK for the heating and cooling of commercial and domestic buildings.
