Tattleton Estate – Ground Source Lake Collector

Ground source direct heating scheme saves rural estate on fuel costs and provides RHI.

A 90 kW system of distributed heat pumps using an 18 loop lake collector was installed at this working equestrian estate to provide fuel security, reduce heating costs and provide income from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme.

“Great system, completely invisible and a real talking point for guests. Fantastic hot water production and extremely low maintenance. RHI incentive makes the scheme incredibly profitable and worthwhile both environmentally and financially”

Lake System Design:

  • CTC Ecopart 90kW heat pump cascade

  • Utilises estate's own lake, with collector pipe fed into central manifold

  • Heats five separate buildings linked together to form a district heating scheme

  • Is eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

Complete Ground Source Package

All 5 buildings are linked with 1000m of underground pipe. The efficiency has already exceeded expectations even when the lake has been covered in ice, with fast hot water heat up time

GeoScience undertook the design of the closed loop lake collectors and the associated, source side distribution pipework to the separate heat pump locations.
